Job Summary
The Digital Access & Support Specialist plays a dual role within Student Services, dividing responsibilities between Accessibility Services and the Library.
Half of the role focuses on supporting students with disabilities by helping them access and use assistive technologies, while the other half involves providing digital literacy support through the Library’s Digital Support Desk.
This position is ideal for professionals who enjoy helping students overcome technology barriers while promoting inclusive education and digital confidence.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
Accessibility Services
- Assess students’ technology and accessibility needs.
- Recommend suitable assistive technologies.
- Deliver training on adaptive software and assistive devices.
- Troubleshoot assistive technology issues.
- Maintain adaptive technology equipment and software.
- Convert learning materials into accessible formats such as Braille, audio, and large print.
- Assist students with Schedule IV Disability Grant applications.
- Coordinate with internal departments and external agencies.
Library Digital Support
- Provide digital literacy support for students and staff.
- Assist with Microsoft 365, Moodle, databases, MFA, and other learning technologies.
- Troubleshoot common technical issues.
- Manage the library’s loanable technology collection.
- Support computer lab operations.
- Deliver workshops and technology orientations.
- Provide library reference and circulation services during scheduled shifts.
Required Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Library Technician diploma or a two-year diploma in Computer Technology or a related field.
- Minimum six months of relevant experience.
- Strong digital literacy skills.
- Experience working with diverse learners.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
